WordCamp Asia 2025
I just got back from an incredible trip to Manila, Philippines, where I had the amazing opportunity to attend WordCamp Asia 2025. This trip was extra special for me because it was my very first time traveling abroad! As an enthusiast user of WordPress, this was an event I had been looking forward to for a while, and it absolutely lived up to (and even exceeded!) my expectations.

A big thank you to Rumahweb for sponsoring my participation in this fantastic event! Their support made this incredible experience possible.
WordCamp Asia 2025, held from February 20-22, 2025, brought together over 2,000 WordPress enthusiasts from across Asia and the world. It was a jam-packed schedule designed to inspire and educate attendees of all levels. The event featured insightful sessions and workshops covering various topics such as development, business growth, accessibility, and more. There was also an exhibition hall where attendees could connect with sponsors and discover new tools and innovations in the WordPress ecosystem. A highlight was the Contributor Day, where people could contribute directly to WordPress. The event also included networking events and an after-party, providing ample opportunities to connect with fellow attendees.

My experience was filled with more than just the main conference. On the first day, I had the opportunity to attend a side event organized by Google Manila, which focused on an introduction to Google Site Kit. It was really insightful to learn more about how to integrate Google services seamlessly with WordPress. Then, on the second day, I even participated in Ctrl+Alt+Run: The biggest running event for people in tech! It was a fun and unique way to connect with others in the tech community outside of the usual conference setting.

On my last day in Manila, before heading home, I had the chance to visit Intramuros. For those who don’t know, Intramuros, also known as the “Walled City,” is the oldest district and historic core of Manila. It’s a fascinating area filled with well-preserved Spanish colonial-era architecture, including churches, forts, and other historical landmarks. It felt like stepping back in time!

For those who are curious about the main event, you can find more general information on the official website: wordcampasia.org/2025.
From the moment I arrived at the Philippine International Convention Center, the energy was palpable. It was fantastic to be surrounded by so many passionate individuals from all corners of the globe – developers, designers, content creators, business owners, and fellow WordPress lovers. The sense of community was truly inspiring.
The main days were packed with insightful talks and workshops. I particularly enjoyed the session on Redefining WordPress Design: Innovating Block Themes on Automattic’s Special Projects Team by Christy Nyiri. I also found the talk on Campfire: Is AI a magic button? Intelligently incorporating AI technologies into your work. to be incredibly practical and helpful.
Beyond the formal sessions (and the runs!), one of the highlights was definitely the chance to connect with other attendees during the breaks and the after-party. I had some great conversations, exchanged ideas, and even made some new friends. It’s amazing how a shared passion for WordPress (and apparently running!) can bring people together.

Manila itself was also a vibrant and welcoming city. While my main focus was the WordCamp and the side events, I did manage to visit Intramuros. The warmth of the Filipino people truly added to the overall positive experience.
Attending WordCamp Asia 2025 was an enriching and inspiring experience, made even more memorable by the Google Site Kit event and the Ctrl+Alt+Run on the side, and being my first international trip. It reaffirmed my love for the WordPress ecosystem and motivated me to continue learning and contributing. If you’re part of the WordPress community and have the chance to attend a WordCamp in the future, I highly recommend it!
